What it is

Lamination is a thin film applied over the printed board. Matt reads quiet and expensive and hides fingerprints; gloss lifts colour and makes black look deep. That one choice changes the feel of the bag more than anything else on the job.

Under the film the stock is a coated board, 180gsm as standard and 250gsm where the bag has to hold its shape. Because the surface is sealed, photographic print behaves exactly as it does on a brochure.

A laminated bag also survives being reused, which is the point for a hotel or a boutique: the bag leaves the store, comes back as a gym bag, and carries the name around for months.

Before you order

+ Matt or gloss, which should I choose?

Matt for a restrained look that hides marks; gloss where the artwork is colourful and you want it to carry. On a mostly dark design, matt avoids a mirror finish under store lighting.

+ Can a laminated bag be recycled?

It is board plus a plastic film, so it depends on the facility. Ask us about the stock on your job and we will tell you exactly what is on it rather than claim more than we can evidence.

+ Does lamination change the price much?

It is an extra pass, so yes. We can quote the laminated and un-laminated versions side by side if you want to compare.
